The Apple Picker

We had a visitor in our apple tree tonight. He was busy picking apples and stuffing his face. We got pretty close to him, but he didn't seem to care. Its no wonder though, he is quite protected! Here are some pics...

The Move

This weekend was the big move from Charlottetown to Truro! It started Friday where I finished most of my packing before my parents arrived. At 5 pm I went down to Aveda and got my hair done and my eyebrows done (first time professionally, and it didn't hurt too bad!). My parents arrived shortly after 8 and they brought a ton of boxes that I didn't think I'd fill. But by Saturday morning I had filled almost all of them LOL I knew I had a lot of stuff, but I think I surprised myself (an my parents!).

It was a fairly smooth transition into packing the boxes and furniture into the trailer and van, thanks to Dad. Unfortunately the idiots at U-Haul had decided to paint the bumper of the back of the trailer and the trailer hitch thing shortly before we got it. So our legs and pants were striped with black paint. However I think all of the furniture and boxes avoided being striped.

We got a surprisingly early start by leaving Charlottetown at 12:30 and getting to Truro around 3:30. After calling both numbers multiple times for my landlord I kept getting "the customer you are calling is not available". Which was great because we needed to get into my apartment. So after calling a few more ties we just drove to the apartment and luckily found the door was open and the keys were on the counter. Another surprise we found was that I didn't have a fridge and stove. And the bathroom wasn;t finsihed. Brilliant. Considering he said he could get all the work needed to be done in ten days back in July, which is why I got a discount on my rent. I was not very impressed.

Since we had the keys we started moving all my stuff in, separating some of the boxes into their rooms (bedroom, livingroom, kitchen, spare room). By the time we were done I tried the landlord again and he actually answered this time. He said he thought I was coming tomorrow (Sunday). Haha. And yet the new fridge and stove he had ordered weren't coming til early in the week. And the bathroom he still needed to take out the toilet and rip up the floor and put in new stuff. Ummm. What happened to the ten days is too much time but I'll give it to you back in July??

Anyway his offer of peace was to let us stay at his bed and breakfast at his house for free. Whatever. It was nice and everything but it didnt make much difference to me. I would have been just as happy staying in my apartment for the night. If its not done by the time I get back I'm gonna have to get some sort of a discount. Because that is ridiculous. He didn't even paint the walls like he said he was going to. there were holes EVERYWHERE.

Saturday night we went out to supper to a nice little pasta place with good food. I can't remember what it was called now LOL After supper we swung by the racetrack to check out the AC barn. The aisle ways were huge, due to the harness racers and their carts. The AC stalls were all painted blue with NSAC letters on the front. The stalls were a decent size, each with a sliding door and an open window. Nothing overly fancy, but functional. The outdoor ring was a good size too. We even saw lots of jumps in the center field. So there must be some hunter/jumpers in the barn :) Not that a 2 year old will have anything to do with jumps LOL But its fun to watch.

Sunday morning we got up and went back to the apartment and started unpacking and putting a few things together while dad went on his 18 mile run. I got most of my bedroom set up and the livingroom motly organized. I hug a few of my pictures, and that was about it. We headed back home, unfortunately not getting to see Thea, as I couldn't get hold of her trainer.

Here are some pictures of the new place before moving stuff in and after. First we have a picture of the hallway looking towards the livingroom.

Then we have pictures of the livingroom and kitchen (minus the fridge and stove).

Stuff everywhere...

No More Work!

I am officially done work!!! It is such a relief to be done working two jobs for minimum wage. Never again. LOL

I went to the racetrack tonight (its Old Home Week) and watched a few races. I met up with my friend from work who introduced me to a couple people from the Truro racetrack. So I may see a few familiar faces in September. :) And best of all I got to pet a few horses. Hehe. Its been a while!

So here's whats happening...

Tonight (whats left of tonight) I'm going to pack up non-essentials in my room. Tomorrow is packing up just about everything. Would also be good to make sure I have stuff I need at home in NB packed separately. Friday at 4:45 I have my hair appointment, then by 8 ish my parents should arrive. On Saturday we'll finish any packing, get the U-Haul trailer and start putting stuff in there. Then by late afternoon we should be headed off to Truro. Pick up my keys, unload stuff. Go visit the AC barn at the track, make sure its suitable. Then Sunday maybe unpack a bit and rearrange stuff. Drop off the trailer, then head to NB. Hopefully in Moncton I'll get to see Thea :) And then its back to St. Andrews.

Should be a busy weekend! I hope it all goes smoothly. I have a week at home then we're headed for a week long trip to Ontario. Not sure if I get to drive my brother's new car or not :P Will have to see.

Here are a couple pics of the favorites at Pets Unlimited I snapped on my last day :) The puppy is Bruce. He was named after Batman (Bruce Wayne) due to his remarkable ears. The birds (Conures) are buddies Damion and Deetle. They will be missed!

Good Weekend :)

Mom and Dad arrived Friday night just before the Superstore closed, so I got a ride home :) They brought several boxes for me to use when I start to pack up my stuff. And best of all they brought my MacBook and iPod!!

I've been having fun playing around with the programs on my MacBook and love it! We also hooked up the wireless router so I can use it anywhere in the house. Here are a couple shots of it:

I downloaded all my music into my iPod and still have over 1 GB left on it. hehe. The case is cute too. I haven't played around much with it yet.

On Saturday we headed out to the Humane Society so I could show Mom and Dad where I volunteer every week :) After seeing all the animals we went to Futureshop and I got a bag and lock for my laptop. Then it was time to search for a table and chair set. We went to the used furniture place, the Brick, Walmart, Canadian Tire, and Sears . But nothing seemed quite right. I need something small, preferable not round so i can put it up against the wall, and with some chairs. I had no luck, but thats ok. Table and chairs are not a necessity for living. I can use my coffee table or my desk to eat off of.

In the afternoon we spent time getting the wireless network working and making it secure so people cannot steal it. For supper we went to the Gahan House. They make their own beer, and I thought Dad might like that :) The food was good too! Since Dad had sampled most of the beers I got to drive out to the beach. It was windy and quite cool, but it made for beautiful waves. And we got to watch the sun set. Then it was home for... ice cream!

This morning Mom and Dad dropped me and my bike off at the humane society and then the headed home. It was a short visit but I'm glad they could amke it! And I'll see them again in less than two weeks :)

Thirteen days to go...

Things are Looking Good

After a 13 hour day today I will have the whole weekend off!! And my parents are coming to visit tonight! :) Not to mention I get to open my Mac stuff tonight. hehehe. Other good stuff going on... I got paid thursday and friday so I am no longer broke. As well things are looking very good for having a horse to ride a couple blocks from home this winter :) Here is a picture of Thea as a baby... she's now almost 2 and a half.

I just hope nothing goes wrong! It seems to be going in my favor and I don't want it to stop LOL

I will give a detailed review of my gadgets when I have time. Should be a busy weekend :) Ciao for now!
