The Move

This weekend was the big move from Charlottetown to Truro! It started Friday where I finished most of my packing before my parents arrived. At 5 pm I went down to Aveda and got my hair done and my eyebrows done (first time professionally, and it didn't hurt too bad!). My parents arrived shortly after 8 and they brought a ton of boxes that I didn't think I'd fill. But by Saturday morning I had filled almost all of them LOL I knew I had a lot of stuff, but I think I surprised myself (an my parents!).

It was a fairly smooth transition into packing the boxes and furniture into the trailer and van, thanks to Dad. Unfortunately the idiots at U-Haul had decided to paint the bumper of the back of the trailer and the trailer hitch thing shortly before we got it. So our legs and pants were striped with black paint. However I think all of the furniture and boxes avoided being striped.

We got a surprisingly early start by leaving Charlottetown at 12:30 and getting to Truro around 3:30. After calling both numbers multiple times for my landlord I kept getting "the customer you are calling is not available". Which was great because we needed to get into my apartment. So after calling a few more ties we just drove to the apartment and luckily found the door was open and the keys were on the counter. Another surprise we found was that I didn't have a fridge and stove. And the bathroom wasn;t finsihed. Brilliant. Considering he said he could get all the work needed to be done in ten days back in July, which is why I got a discount on my rent. I was not very impressed.

Since we had the keys we started moving all my stuff in, separating some of the boxes into their rooms (bedroom, livingroom, kitchen, spare room). By the time we were done I tried the landlord again and he actually answered this time. He said he thought I was coming tomorrow (Sunday). Haha. And yet the new fridge and stove he had ordered weren't coming til early in the week. And the bathroom he still needed to take out the toilet and rip up the floor and put in new stuff. Ummm. What happened to the ten days is too much time but I'll give it to you back in July??

Anyway his offer of peace was to let us stay at his bed and breakfast at his house for free. Whatever. It was nice and everything but it didnt make much difference to me. I would have been just as happy staying in my apartment for the night. If its not done by the time I get back I'm gonna have to get some sort of a discount. Because that is ridiculous. He didn't even paint the walls like he said he was going to. there were holes EVERYWHERE.

Saturday night we went out to supper to a nice little pasta place with good food. I can't remember what it was called now LOL After supper we swung by the racetrack to check out the AC barn. The aisle ways were huge, due to the harness racers and their carts. The AC stalls were all painted blue with NSAC letters on the front. The stalls were a decent size, each with a sliding door and an open window. Nothing overly fancy, but functional. The outdoor ring was a good size too. We even saw lots of jumps in the center field. So there must be some hunter/jumpers in the barn :) Not that a 2 year old will have anything to do with jumps LOL But its fun to watch.

Sunday morning we got up and went back to the apartment and started unpacking and putting a few things together while dad went on his 18 mile run. I got most of my bedroom set up and the livingroom motly organized. I hug a few of my pictures, and that was about it. We headed back home, unfortunately not getting to see Thea, as I couldn't get hold of her trainer.

Here are some pictures of the new place before moving stuff in and after. First we have a picture of the hallway looking towards the livingroom.

Then we have pictures of the livingroom and kitchen (minus the fridge and stove).

The unfinished bathroom...

Before and after unpacking the trailer...

Stuff everywhere...
